Taking sustainability and climate-related criteria into consideration in purchasing decisions as well as working closely together with our suppliers is a key element for reaching our climate target.

Quality Principles

As part of the supplier selection process, BioNTech requires that any supplier or service provider must follow applicable pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing rules and principles prior to participating in our global supplier network.

If the supplier's QMS is not certified, it still must be in place, including the following minimum requirements

  • Documented and defined processes
  • Training of employees
  • Change management/control
  • Deviation management
  • Corrective action and preventive action management
  • Risk management
  • GMP grade material (if applicable)

Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis with evidence that the supplier or service provider is suitable for pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical companies. Based on the risk application, more requirements may be necessary. The evidence will be reviewed during the qualification process.
